Splenectomy
The spleen has to be removed for a variety of reasons, usually under direction of a haematologist (blood specialist) in the elective setting.
It makes a huge difference to be able to do this laparoscopically. Dr Gan has developed techniques allowing this major surgery to be done with as few as three small incisions, and has also published and presented on this internationally.
